Fine linen panel quilted in small squares in cream silk to a coarser linen back. There is an elaborate chinoiserie design in coloured silks, mostly in pinks and greens and some metal thread, and comprises of an elaborate tree of life growing out of a rocky mound with several exotic birds or dragons, the two largest with a repeating shape but worked to very different effect. The quality of the embroidery is very fine. In various areas the original drawing of the pattern can be seen on the linen.

This type of embroidery is usually seen on bed furnishings, and this may have been part of a set of bed hangings, but in its present shape it resembles the train of a woman's dress. Its edges are unfinished.
