Pull-Along Toy

ca.1990 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Pull along toy, wooden platform painted red on the top and pink underneath mounted on four wooden wheels painted blue. The front wheels are joined by a dowel post while the back ones have a wavy metal bar. On the platform is a dog in a sitting position, painted white with black ears and a yellow jacket; the ears, mouth, nose and whiskers are painted black. The ears are joined through the head by a dowel post and move. From each 'paw' extends a drumstick of black plastic. Behind the dog on the platform are two slots through which pass opaque plastic lengths linked to the axle of the black wheels and to eyelets at the ear of the arms. On the side of the arms are another two eyelets which in turns hit the bottoms of the ears making the move. In front of the dog is a white stand supporting a xylophone made of 5 alternate bars, three wooden ones painted red and two metal ones painted black. Also in front of the dog are two oval shapes painted white representing its feet. When the wheels turn the plastic lenghts move the arms alternately so the drumsticks beat the black metal xylophone bars. Attached to the front of the platform is a cord. The toy comes with a card printed box.
