This is an architectural drawing of the northern elevation of perpendicular gothic style Marcham Church located in the county of Oxfordshire. Marcham Church is also known as All Saints and is located in Marcham in the English county of Oxfordshire. It was first built ca. 13th centure but has undergone several restorations since leaving its current state in a Perpendicular Gothic style. The drawing was likely made during a restoration phase ca.1830-ca.1840.

Physical description
This is an ink, pencil, and wash drawing on paper of the northern elevation of Marcham Church. The drawing includes the eastern vestry, made rectangular body, and western tower. The stone walls are detailed in grey ink and wash and blue watercolour is used on the windows. The roof is covered in a grey wash and the left side of the drawing, the door to the vestry is painted brown. Above the wooden door the text 'Restored 1834' is included in black. A man is included walking along the side of the church near the eastern end. Long notes in faint pencil are included above and below the drawing.

  • 'The windows in the body of the Church are the [illegible] windows lengthened [illegible] added [illegible] windows [illegible] without exterior. The Lancet window is 3 [illegible] in the present vestry [illegible] of its style varying so greatly from the other windows [illegible]. This fron tone of the windows in the [illegible] side aisle is introduced. The present [illegible] of the tower is taken down. [illegible] terminates with a [illegible].' (This inscription is written above the drawing and to the right in very faint pencil. The handwritten cursive is difficult to read at points both for its small size and faint appearance.)
