Girl with Doves

Plaquette
1931 (struck)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This plaquette is made by Marcel Claude Renard (1893-1974), in France, in 1931.
Like The Dancer with Tambourine and Adornment (inv.nos. A.7-1978 and A.149-1978), this was issued as an independent plaquette by the Paris Mint in 1931.
One aspect of Art Deco was a revival of Neo-classical art. Its sparse, simple clarity appealed to designers and artists trying to reduce images to their essential form.
