Object history
Miss Emily Dalton (1816/17–1900), Leicester, by whom bequeathed to the museum (NAL dry stamp on recto and Dalton Bequest purple ink stamp on verso; neither in Lugt), 1900.
Production
The recto is a copy by Jordeans of the central predella of Rubens' altarpiece of the Adoration of the Magi. This copy was probably made by Jordaens at the beginning of his preparation for the altarpiece of the Adoration of the Shepherds, originally in the church of the Canonesses Regular of St Augustine at Kortrijk.
