This relief representing a mythological scene was probably made in France, in about 1680-1700. This is in tortoiseshell and mounted on a piece of brocade.

Physical description

In the centre Juno is seated on a throne with an eagle and another bird (a peacock?) behind her. She leans forward with her right hand to her breast. Minerva on the left interposes her Gorgon shield and takes the left hand of a man (Hercules) who has fallen on his back before Juno. On the right a boy (Ganymede?) spilling a wine-cup. Behind Jupiter approaches. The relief is mounted on a piece of brocade.
