This relief representing the Last Supper was probably made in the first half of the 16th century South Germany. This is convex, and in mother of pearl set in a silver gilt mount with four loops and stud in centre.

The Last Supper, mother of pearl relief, South German, late 15th century
Physical description
Christ who has an elaborate halo and holds an orb in his right hand is seated in the top centre at the table with the twelve apostles. He and Judas extend their left hands to the dish, while St. John reclines in his lap. On the table are bread and wine and the dish, on which the central stud represents the lamb. the apostles are sitting on benches eating and drinking. The relief is convex, and of thin pearl-oyster shell (silver-gilt mount with four loops and stud in centre).
