Physical description
Relief in mother of pearl depicting the Massacre of the Innocents. On the right Herod, robed and holding a sceptre is seated on his throne, in the centre a mail-clad soldier holds a child and another on the left is running one through with his sword. Below lies a mother with hands upraised and there are two dead children lying on the grass. The deeply cut background is ornamented with stars. Robes and armour show traces of colour, on the back a mark.
