This relief was probably made in the 17th or 18th century Spain or Portugal. This relief, carved in mother of pearl, depicts the Annunciation, and on the back is engraved the sacred monogram I. H. S. with the Christ Child blessing and below a heart pierced with three darts.

Physical description
Relief in mother of pearl. The Virgin is seated on the right in a cloister with a book before her. Her hands are folded and she looks upward towards the angel who kneels with folded arms. Overhead a horizontal beam with two rows of scalloped mouldings supported a fluted column on each side. On the back is engraved the sacred monogram I. H. S. with the Christ child blessing and below a heart pierced with three darts. Both reliefs have flat surfaces and are deeply cut. Silver mount with three pendants.
