These are designs for a range of merchandise and packaging for the National Trust, the heritage organisation responsible for historical houses and country estates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. While the merchandise would have had many uses in the home, most customers would have purchased items as souvenirs of their visit to a National Trust property. All the designs incorporate the same acorn motif, chosen for its associations with the nation, the past and the countryside. This brand identity becomes more important than the detailed design of individual items, as is clear from the way all 15 designs are shown together on a single sheet.

The drawing was made in 1970 by Pat Albeck, a textile designer. Felt-tip pen was new in Britain at the time and this example shows how effective a medium it could be.
