Oil Painting
1871 (painted)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The artist J. Randall was an art master at the South Kensington School (now the Royal College) of Art. This is a replica of the anonymous portrait of King Richard II (1367-1400; r. 1377-1399), in Westminster Abbey. It was once considered to be the finest 14th-century royal portrait in Europe, and is possibly why the original was brought to the Museum in 1870 for Randall to make this accurate copy.
