This relief shows the Buddha and his monks seated in a sala grove, sunk in meditation. The Buddha sits in the centre, sitting on a low socle distinguished by a plinth and by cushions. Behind the Buddha, two curled-in branches of the Bodhi tree are hanging down, forming an impressive halo. At each side of the Buddha, three monks, with shaven heads are seated in meditation. Their seats are unadorned socles. They are separated one from the other by slender, tall sala trees.
