Doll

1920's (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This type of doll is known as a 'boudoir' doll: these were made for the adult market and were immensely popular in the 1920s and 30s. The museum has several other dolls of this type but none as spectacular as this one in her Spanish costume. This doll was brought in 1964 at an auction in Aberdeen by a lady for her grand-daughter as a birth present. It was never a successful present as the little girl never played with it and it has been kept wrapped up in the bottom of a wardrobe for almost forty years.
