Object history
All the plates in this 19th-century volume are re-prints from some of Thomas Johnson's plates from One Hundred and Fifty New Designs, 1761. The publisher, John Weale, acquired these plates, removed Johnson's name from them and replaced it with Chippendale's. Cf. Hayward, Helena, <i>Thomas Johnson and English Rococo,</i> London, 1964, pp.3-4.
