The first of five wooden trays covered in fabric, made to display a sequence of casts showing the making of a brooch. The sequence was made in the 1950s to promote the products of Trifari, a leading maker of fashion jewellery with headquarters in New York and a factory in Providence, Rhode Island.

The stages in the making of the brooch are described in individual entries for the V&A inventory numbers M.13-2003 to M.39-2003. This tray contains M.35 to M.39-2003.
