Descriptive line

Two fringed headcloths from Arracan of a hill people still to be identified. Plain and supplementary weave of white cotton with striped borders of blue and red. c. before 1855

Production Note

1880 Slip Book states that a cotton piece? scarf was received in Arracan in 1855. Very similar to 05553 (IS) - also a head cloth from Arracan. The two registerred with this number maybe hko-peu-ki (Karen men's headcloths) or from a sub-group of the Chin people. Both Karen and Chin people inhabit areas of Arracan (Arakan).
