Evening Ensemble
1976 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Ossie Clark was one of Britain's most influential fashion designers of the 1960s and 1970s. By the time he made this ensemble, he had stopped designing commercially. In 1973 Alice Pollock dissolved her partnership with Clark. A year later his marriage to Celia Birtwell ended. Alfred Radley provided financial backing and Clark attempted several design comebacks. They were unsuccessful. Nevertheless, the elaborate quilting of this 'glam-rock'-inspired jacket is among some of Clark's best work.
