Formed from one length of material folded at the shoulders and stitched at the sides. Openings are left for the arms and neck. Left side opening fastened with two sets of metal poppers.

Black velvet decorated with stem-stitch embroidery in green, red, yellow, blue and white threads and appliqued with red broad cloth (of European manufacture) and narrow braid.

Design on lower part of jacket made of three horizontal narrow bands of red wool framing foliate scrolling patterns. Above the top band there are designs of branching tree and animal patterns..

This blouse is believed to have been acquired by the donor's father while he was resident in Burma during the second half of the 1930s.
