Physical description
Oil portrait of Julia Neilson as Nell Gwyn, three-quarter length, seated at a harpsichord. Her body faces the viewer's left but her head is turned towards the viewer. Dark reddish-black background. She wears a late 17th-century style dress in dull yellow/old gold, with a wide lace off-the-shoulder shawl collar and lace sleeves. She has curling red hair.
