A standing figure of Bhu Devi in the tribangha pose holding a lotus bud in her right hand. She is dressed identically to her paired Vishnu consort, Sri Devi (IM.97-1912 but without breast band. She stands on a lotus plinth on a tiered base. This image has a donor incription on the base in Tamil and, judging from the pierced base, served as a processional image on the right hand side of a figure of Vishnu..

Gift of the Hon. Lady Beatrix Gatacre, wife of Sir William Forbes Gatacre, K.C.B., D.S.O., 1843-1906. Sir William was posted to India in 1862 and remained serving in the army in India and Burma during most of the period up until 1897.

Given by The Hon. Lady Beatrix Gatacre. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Museum records (Asia Department registers and/or Central Inventory) as part of a 2023 provenance research project.
