Place of origin |
The figure stands in the tribhanga pose holding a lotus bud in her left hand. She stands on a lotus plinth supported on a tiered square base. She wears a lower garment and a breast band with a tall conical makuta headress with a knop finial. Her pose is a mirror image of the paired figure of Bhu Devi which would have stood on the other side of a central figure of Vishnu in a shrine which was probably used in ritual processions as the base is pierced. The image has a donor inscription on the base in Tamil.
