Fishing is one of the most popular sports in Britain, and like other sports, a unique wardrobe – for practicality and safety – has developed around it. Fishing clothes are primarily designed to provide protection and warmth, but, like other sportswear, they have also inspired popular fashion. The shirt fabric here is in the Tattersall country check pattern, which is derived from the blankets used at Newmarket horse auctions. The rust-coloured wool sweater was hand-framed in Scotland. The breeches are tucked into soft, calf-lined boots made by Hunter, makers of the original green Wellington boot for Cordings. Additional protection is provided by Barbour rain-choker and fishing waistcoat.
