When joined together these two fragments depict a duck amongst acquatic plants. The incised design is filled in with red and black pigment. These fragments are probably from a casket. These fragments were found at Behnesa in Egypt during the excavations of 1896-7.

Object history note

This object was excavated at Behnesa (Oxyrhynchus) during the archaeological season of 1896-1897. It was given to the Museum by the Egypt Exploration Fund.
