Bodice for a Swan in Swan Lake designed by Yolanda Sonnabend, The Royal Ballet, 1987
Physical description
Boned bodice in white satin, with deep curved upper edge, each side suggestive of a wing-shape, and basque at lower edge. The satin is overlaid with lines of white cord the whole overlaid with stiffened organza, painted with yellow lines following the white cord beneath. The white and silver cords on the hip basque are grouped together at centre front, where they are shaped into a curve to fit over the tutu skirt. The plunging front is infilled with flesh-coloured synthetic fabric. The shoulder straps are of silver elastic. The costume is lined with white cotton and fastens at the back with hooks and eyes.
