A design for a pier-glass in transition from the rococo to the neoclassical style in pencil, pen and ink and wash on paper. The top of the pier-glass is arched and surmounted by floral motifs and a rocaille form. Below the arch, curved foliate forms and festoons attach to the mouths of goat heads which are positioned on either side of the top of sides of the frames. At the bottom of the frame is a decorative border, underneath which are further curved foliate forms and a central leafy motif.
