Physical description

Two designs for overmantel mirrors in pencil, pen and ink. The mirror on the left is bolder in style and more finished in design. Chinoiserie features such as porcelain, shelves and a chinoiserie bird are situated at the top of the frame. At the bottom of the overmantel the frame is supported by a rocaille-inspired foot, above which curvaceous candle-holders are positioned. The bottom of the frame is rectilinear in shape and is composed from a lattice pattern. On the right is the second design which is lighter in composition. The frame is curvaceous at the top, featuring lambrequin patterns within the decorative arrangement. Similar to the opposite design, the frame adopts a more rectilinear shape towards the bottom however it is embellished with rocaille and natural forms.
