Designs for two chimney pieces in pencil, pen and ink and wash on paper. The design on the left is rococo in style and is formed from a cabriole-styled frame decorated with floral forms and rocaille ornamentation. Underneath the mantlepiece is a large leafy decorative form surrounding which are rocaille. The design on the right is composed from both gothic and chinoiserie styles, where the chinese lattice pattern underneath the mantlepiece is combined with the gothic-inspired support. Underneath this design the outline of the shape of the mantelpiece has been drawn.
