Candlestick
1998 (made)

Place of origin |
The work of Fred Rich is now being acquired by major collections. His training as a jeweller has given him a technical virtuosity that is clearly evident in these candlesticks. The candlesticks feature cloisonné decoration: the design is outlined by metal fillets (cloisons) secured to the metal base and the enclosed spaces are filled with coloured enamels, which are then fired. This gives a vivid pictorial quality and polychromatic effect to the surface of the metal.
