Object history
Given by Mrs. G. L.M. Templer.
Production
The donor, who had lent this figure and stand to the Indian Museum, from December 1920, before it was acquired by the museum in 1923, claimed that the sculpture was shipped with some cost from Burma. C. Stanley-Clarke (Assistant Keeper of the Indian Museum) in 1920 comments that the Buddha was probably removed from Mandalay Palace in 1885 and is the finished work of a court sculptor.
