Truncated-vesica in shape.The deeply sunk subject is in low relief, and represents Gautama Buddha seated in a padmasanawith his hands held in the bhumisparsha mudra (earth touching gesture) within a trifoiliate niche surmounted by the Sikhara (tower or spire) of the Great Mahabodhi Temple at Bodh Gaya. The branches of the Bodhi-tree issue from behind the sikhara. On either side of the Buddha are small votive-stupas, and below the padmasana is an inscription that reads Ye dharma hetuprabhava &c or Buddhist creed in Sanskrit Characters.
