Place of origin

A brass image of the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvati. He is shown seated, with four arms. The image is mounted on a wooden base. He is holding an axe and goad in his upper hands, his trunk touching in his lower left and the lower right in abhaya mudra. A cobra round his belly but no rat vahana. Brassy colour, slotting into a simple, copper coloured, base which almost certainly does not belong. The arch for the base is missing.
