Design drawings in black ink and coloured wash showing plans of the ground floor, first floor and attic of a house at Fairmile, Surrey. To the right of the sheet is a section and elevation of the stable, cut from another sheet (E.94-1916) and pasted onto this sheet. The sheet is signed by Webb and the builder, George Wood. The design of the house is an alternative to the original design (E.93-1916) in which the dining room and drawing room were adjacent at the West of the house.
The house at Fairmile, Cobham, Surrey, named 'Sandroyd', was Webb's second studio-home, designed for the gentleman painter John Spencer Stanhope, a pupil of George Frederick Watts. The house was brightly decorated and included fittings by Webb and tiles by William De Morgan. Ill health forced Stanhope to sell Sandroyd soon after Webb completed alterations and extentions in 1870.
