Vishnu in his incarnation (avatar) as the man-lion, Narasimha, seated with his consort Lakshmi. in lalitasana posture holding a chakra and conch in his upper arms, his consort, Lakshmi, sitting on his left knee holding a lotus bud, her feet rest on a disc. They sit on an oval lotus over a broad flat base that could have fitted a larger shrine. The colour is unsually brassy for a southern image but is much darker inside the base. the group shows light to moderate wear.

Object history
Transferred from the India Museum in London to teh South Kensington Museum (now the V&A) in 1879. The group are numbered 289 in the India Museum Slips and are recorded as having come from Bombay in 1826.
