This silver waist clasp belonged to the last king of Sri Lanka (Kandy), Sri Vikrama Raja Simha (1796-1815)

Physical description

Silver waist clasp with screw and fixed pins comprising 7 hollow compressed globular or octahedral balls with open sides covered with 8-spoked cages interlinked together, 2 tubular sockets and herring-bone plaited cord terminating in two lesser sockets. The surfaces are ornamented with granulations and quatrefoils in applied filigree work.
