Presented by the Artist in memory of his son, Captain Francis Leslie Short, who died on Active Service, on June 3, 1916.
Object history
Sir Frank Short was awarded the Gold prize at the Paris Exhibition in 1889 for his mezzotint of Orpheus and Eurydice, after George Frederic Watts, R.A. The painting by Watts was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1869.
