Physical description

Painting, in opaque watercolour on paper, with pearl details, the upper half of the painting shows Krishna beneath the kadamba tree playing his flute, while female cow-herds (gopis) and cows listen. The lower half of the painting shows a prince (or perhaps a deity) enthroned on a grassy island with attendant noblemen paying homage. European sailing-ships are seen in the surrounding water.
