Object history
This church would be used at Christmas as a scene with the choristers, houses and trees. There are already two sets of these in BGM. Both were acquired before the re-unification of Germany in late 1989. The earlier ones are hand made in the same way but also hand painted. This example in a way is more sophicatated but lacks the refinement.
Historical context
The choristers lead a candle and lantern procession to the octagonal church of Seiffen on Christmas Eve. The figures together with the church and buildings are often sold as sets to show this event. The original church is 18th century and protestant; there are four additions around the outside. It has a famous grand chandelier.
Production
This was made after German re-unification.

Attribution note: this was hand made in a small factory.
