Single sheet with architectural sketches on both sides. On the front is a sketch in pen, brown ink and wash, of the elevation of the East range of the South or garden front of Castle Howard, showing nine bays of the central structure, and nine bays of the wings, with prominent chimneys. The domed pavilion has coupled Corinthian pilasters, and is almost hidden behind flaming urns. The larger, main dome lacks a lantern. The windows each have block extensions beneath them. On the back is a plan in pen and brown ink. It is a half plan of the first floor of the north-east angle of the main block east of the Great Hall at Castle Howard.
The sheet has been folded in four previously and the paper bears a watermark.
