Modelling is an important way in which Nigel Coates things out his designs. This model, partly made from scrap found about the studio, came early in the design process.

Modelling is an important part of Coates'
working method. This early stage model,
partly made from 'found' scrap pieces from
around his studio, shows the architect's
interest in surface detail. The past is fused
with the contemporary with an
interpretation of a monumental Roman wall
in his energetic style.
