Bibliographic reference | The following excerpt is from Abdy, Jane. The French Poster: Chéret to Cappiello. London: Studio Vista, 1969, p.106:
'It was Verneau who printed Motocycles Comiot. This is the most amusing of all the bicycle posters. In mood, it is similar to Chéret's 'Benzo-Moteur', with its light-hearted attitude to the difficulties of traffic. It is a more impressive work than Forain's poster for the Deuxieme Salon de Cycle', five years earlier; but Forain, though he designed several posters, is an artist who always worked best on a small scale.' |
