Object history
This design was certainly used as a wallpaper and as such with minor alterations appears in a photograph of the Great Hall at Scarisbrick Hall, Lancs, given in a sale catalogue of Hatch & Fielding, Stockport, Lancs. for 16 July 1923 (Reference: R. Halstead). It may also have been used as a wallpaper in the Houses of Parliament. There are several examples of a similar design in the Houses of Parliament pattern book (E.137-1939) but a positive identification does not seem possible.
