Double page landscape format engraving in black and white, depicting the entrance archway into the upper room of the Mausoleum of Hadrian (later Castel Sant'Angelo). The arch is made of wedges of travertine, each with a stone sticking out of them, possibly used in raising them during construction. In front of the entrance, on the left hand side, are chains and manacles, and on the right hand side are guns, spears and a drum. Through the arch is a room with pyramids of cannonballs and a guard carrying a gun, and beyond is another archway. Features of the engraving are lettered, with a key in Italian below.
