This suit was made in 'The Sixties', when psychedelic colours were very popular. The corduroy is an American furnishing fabric by Hexter. The donor, Mr David Mlinaric, purchased the fabric while on a visit to the USA so that he could have a suit made from it on his return home.

Physical description

Man's suit consisting of a jacket and trousers made of striped voided cotton velvet corduroy. The coloured stripes are printed in green, orange, red and yellow which are overprinted to get brown and beige well as darker reds and greens giving a rainbow effect to the colours.

Object history note

The suit was made during the period when psychedelic colours were at their most popular. The corduroy is an American furnishing fabric by Hexter, purchased by the owner with the intention of having a suit made from it.

Both the jacket and trousers have been let out at least one inch at the centre back.
