Collection books such as Gionvanni Battista Piranesi’s "Vasi, candelabri, cippi, sarcofagi, tripodi, lucerne ed ornamenti antichi" became increasingly popular in the 18th. These books were intended to spread the knowledge of the magnificent collections they illustrated. This print illustrates a vase from the collection of Richard Dalton as mentioned just below the vase. Such publications became more fashionable during the eighteenth century with collections of important families being published.
