Drawing in charcoal on paper. This design is a preparatory, full-length figure study. It shows a man who stands facing to the left. His sleeves are rolled up and he wears an apron tied at the back of the waist. He carries an object, possibly a baluster, with a square base and a bulbous mid-section, which rests on his shoulder. Paper of irregular shape. Lower right-hand corner missing. Tearing, creasing, and pinhole near lower left-hand corner. Foxing and some staining. Surface striations from loss of charcoal. Conservation mounting underneath paper.
