Drawing in charcoal on paper, with fixative (probably gum arabic) applied on top. Preparatory, full-length figure study. This design shows a man who stands facing to the right in profile. He wears an apron and his sleeves are rolled up. In his hands he holds a long pair of crucible tongs, only roughly delineated. Paper of irregular shape. Lower right-hand corner missing. Tearing, creasing, folding, and pinholes. Foxing and staining. Conservation mounting underneath paper.
