Object history | Purchased from Mr Said Motammed, 1st November 1966 (Frankfurt). Historical significance: A number of feline-shaped incense burners are now known, however none compare with this piece in shape or decoration. The unusual facial features of the feline and the disconnected nature of the scrollwork pattern raises doubts concerning its authenticity, Melikian-Chirvani (1982). |
