Object history
This drawing was acquired as being by "Christopher Stimmer" [sic, probably] with the dates of 1549-c.1578, but was also identified as being after "H. Glaser". The dates 1549-c.1578 are those of Hans Christoffel Stimmer, identified as a 'pattern cutter' and the brother of Tobias Stimmer (alongside the calligrapher Christoph Stimmer II (C.1522-1562), the painters Abel (1542-c.1606), Josias (1555-after 1574), and Gideon, who was also a stained glass designer (1545-1577). Their father, Christoph Stimmer, was also a stained glass painter. "Christopher Stimmer" could be a misspelling of (Hans) Christoffel Stimmer as implied by the dates, or of Christoph Stimmer, the father.

However, the drawing is signed with the monogram STS and also dated 1628. The "H. Glaser" that this drawing is after is probably the stained glass artist and designer, Hans Heinrich Glaser, whose dates are 1585-1673; making a date of 1628 credible. As it is not possible that it could be either Christoph Stimmer or Hans Christoffel Stimmer, the identity of the monogrammist STS is yet to be ascertained.
