Thomas Stothard (1755-1834) created eight illustrations for an edition of Laurence Sterne's Tristram Shandy, published by Joseph Wenman in 1781. This image shows Tristram dancing with Nannette, at the end of Volume 7, Chapter 43. Stothard's original design was engraved by William Angus (1752-1821). The print was also published separately, by Harrison and Co.
