Gallery label | Yoshijirō Urushibara settled in London after taking part in the Japan-British Exhibition of 1910. He became influential in teaching printmakers in Britain and France the Japanese woodblock technique. Urushibara was known for his ability to replicate delicate brushstrokes in his printing and for creating soft, feathery effects. He made good use of the latter in his prints of flowers, for which he became well-known.(August 2019) |
